Abby

Abby has been practicing yoga for 13+ years, what started as a form of personal fitness evolved into a pillar of personal development and spiritual deepening. She has taken multiple 200hr YTT from more traditional to circus art, she has continuing education in trauma informed teaching as well as restorative yoga practices. She believes that a strong body is a strong spirit. Her style weaves physical challenge with intentionality, to bring unique flows that are both playful and sweaty.

Abby is inspired by all forms of dance and believes movement is a form of artistic expression.  Being in the body and with the breath has assisted her through many life initiations.  She is deeply passionate about sharing yoga with her community, as not only a physical practice, but a pillar for mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Abby has been teaching yoga for over 7 years, in all sorts of settings, from international yoga retreat centers to mental health facilities. She works with students who are getting on to their mat for the first time all the way to 40+ years of practice. She believes this practice is for every body and is constantly evolving to bring classes and practices to anyone, at any point on their movement journey.

Forever a student, Abby knows this practice is more than physical and the real development is off that mat. She embodies the yoga philosophies to create safe space for her students, family, friends, and self, to find authentic expression and unique forms of prayer and practices.

All parts of you are always welcome, the joyful and ecstatic, the messy and inconsistent.

In addition to yoga asana, Abby works with sound, cranial sacral therapy, energy work, and guided journeys to bring people into deeper states of healing, relaxation, and self discovery. She offers one on one sessions, as well as experiences for private groups.

Abby became the director of Joy Yoga (previously Seco Yoga) in December of 2022, after holding the prayer to be in deeper service to her community and offer safe spaces for healing and play. She's passionate about everyone being deeply valued for their gifts and contributions and wants to provide a venue for people to share their gifts and be empowered in their offerings. She also holds values of accessibility and believes everyone should have access to the experiences and support they are needing.

It is her vision to hold Joy Yoga as a flexible and adaptable community space and a hub for healing, expression, and connection of all kinds.
